Wireless portable ADS-B in devices

Some portable ADS-B in devices are compatible with the IFD in your aircraft so that you can display traffic and weather on ONLY the IFD. The IFD will not forward this information to any other device installed in your aircraft that is interfaced with your IFD to include any PFD/MFD, or other IFD. 

 

This table explains what devices work, what devices have limited functionality and may allow communication with an iPad/iPhone and flight plan transfer but no traffic and weather information to be displayed on the IFD, and what devices do not work at all: 

 

 

For an IFD to receive ADS-B traffic and weather from the 3rd party wireless ADS-B in device, that device must be capable to transmitting the data via Capstone protocol, also called Open ADS-B. If it is extended GDL90, it will not work. In order for the IFD to display this information the IFD must have software 10.3.0.2 or later installed.
