In many cases, private strips or runways cannot be found in the IFD. This is because the airstrip or runway is not in the Jeppesen nav database. This forces the pilot to create a user waypoint, but will give altitude alerts when departing or landing because user waypoints are lat/long only with no altitude data. To make things more complicated, the user waypoint cannot be used as the origin of a flight plan.
See IFD Pilot Guide Chapter 3 for instructions on creating User Defined Waypoints.
The only way to have the strip added to the database is to email Jeppesen and ask that the strip be added to the nav database.
Send an email to [email protected] and request the airport to be added. For that airport to be added, the airport/private strip should already be included in the government database and will make adding them to Jeppesen database much easier.
